Job Description

This role requires extensive personal interaction with internal and external customers, verifying documentation and loads, and safely transporting food to and from designated locations. You will be operating both CDL Class A & B trucks, ensuring a safe and timely pick-up and delivery of products. Additionally, you will load, inspect all products, verify quantities and expiration dates, and inform the appropriate personnel of any issues found. This position involves working independently according to an assigned schedule while assessing and responding to customer needs and updated or changing plans, keeping the transportation team manager informed. You will document travel, time worked, breaks, etc., via electronic logging methods. Your responsibilities include delivering and picking up produce, frozen, and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors, and other locations as assigned.

ResponsibilitiesOperate CDL Class A & B trucks for safe and timely pick-up and delivery.Load, inspect all products, verify quantities and expiration dates.Inform appropriate personnel of any issues found.Work independently according to an assigned schedule.Assess and respond to customer needs and updated plans.Keep the transportation team manager informed.Document travel, time worked, breaks, etc., via electronic logging methods.Deliver and pick up produce, frozen, and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors, and other locations as assigned.Assist in loading trailers with materials.Unload trailers using a forklift, electric pallet jack, or hand truck.Transport loads over required routes to proper destinations.Obtain shipping bills and necessary signatures.Return completed paperwork to the warehouse office.Remove empty pallets from trailer trucks and carry them to designated piling areas.Perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline, and air in tires on a daily basis.Other work-related and warehouse duties as assigned by supervisor.Regular attendance is expected.Essential SkillsDrivingCustomer serviceGeneral laborLoadingBox truckUnloadingForkliftCDLLogisticsDelivery drivingLoad and unloadTruckTransportPallet jackAdditional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of driving experience.Valid driver’s license – CLASS A OR B CDL optional.Safe driving record (MVR, Abstract).No DUIs, DWIs, Major violations within the past 24 months.18 years or older.Ability to pass a drug test.Ability to pass a standard, non-financial background check.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to use mobile electronic devices to communicate and document travel, time worked, etc.Ability to safely execute multiple deliveries and pickups daily utilizing different types of vehicles.Possess sound business acumen and the ability to establish credibility, trust, and partnership at all levels of the organization.Detail-oriented and responsible.High level of independence while working effectively and collaboratively with a diverse population.Excellent organization, time-management, and task-management skills to maneuver in a fast-paced and diverse environment.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This position requires a valid driver’s license, with CLASS A OR B CDL optional. A safe driving record is essential, with no DUIs, DWIs, or major violations within the past 24 months. Applicants must be 18 years or older and able to pass a drug test. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, as is the ability to use mobile electronic devices to communicate and document travel, time worked, etc. The role demands the ability to safely execute multiple deliveries and pickups daily using various types of vehicles. Applicants must possess sound business acumen, credibility, trust, and partnership at all levels of the organization. Detail-oriented and responsible individuals with a high level of independence who can work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse population are ideal. Excellent organization, time-management, and task-management skills are required to maneuver in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
