Driver Safety & Training Supervisor Job Details Job Location Tonawanda - Tonawanda, NY Position Type Full Time Salary Range $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly Travel Percentage Road Warrior Job Shift Any Job Category Transportation Description Position: Driver Safety and Training SupervisorDepartment: NECO Petroleum a Tarbell Management Group, LLC CompanyLocation: Tonawanda, NYStatus: Full-TimeReports to: Transportation Operations Manager JOB SUMMARY The Driver Safety and Training Supervisor (DST) is responsible for maintaining all safety, compliance, and equipment requirements for the operation of NECO Petroleum. This includes performing driver safety audits, site inspections, training of drivers, property management, equipment inspections and repairs. This role also serves as backup to the Supply and Logistics Support Specialist and is required to deliver fuel in the event of driver shortage or emergency. The DST is required to maintain a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. In addition, the DST is required to acquire and maintain loading rack cards for each of NECO Petroleum’s racks currently servicing Western NY customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Safety & Training (40%) + Responsible for maintaining all required safety equipment. + Responsible for road testing, delivering approved onboarding training, and safety training drivers in a manner that will ensure excellent customer service, maximize efficiencies and assure compliance with all Federal, State, Local and NECO Standards. + Conduct Monthly Safety Meetings, in collaboration with the Training / Learning and Development team, including the participation of industry specific speakers and trainers. + Responsible for the ongoing evaluation of existing drivers to meet our standards of efficiency, customer service, and safety. + Delivering TMG approved onboarding curriculum to new drivers, conduct all technical qualifications (TQs) for new and current drivers. + Responsible for ordering / maintaining driver uniforms, and ensuring the drivers are wearing their uniforms and safety vests, utilizing auxiliary PPE and keeping our personnel presentable, consistent, and professional. + Conducting safety audits of drivers and equipment, performing driver ride-alongs for each driver quarterly, reviewing driver scorecards and providing appropriate coaching as needed. + Document all safety and training activities timely and accurately. + Performing customer site visits to audit safety equipment at customer sites. + Preparing site maps referencing all appropriate safety best practices at each site. + Develop and maintain Driver Delivery Manual, containing site maps, tank charts, and appropriate best practices for each delivery site. + Respond in the field to any accidents, spills, or other incidents, making sure to document appropriately. Compliance (20%) + Making sure all required permits and files are on-site or in vehicles to comply with Federal, State and Local Regulations. + Facilitate all on the ground activities related to compliance to support the work of the TMG Compliance and Accounting departments. + Ensuring that there are Standard Operating Procedures documented and in place for every process and procedure. SOPs will be accessible for all drivers. SOPs will be reviewed and updated annually as necessary. + Coordinate with Compliance to ensure that all Federal, State and Local regulations related to our business (including IFTA/NYHUT) are being followed to ensure the safety of our associates, the communities we serve or drive in, and our company Equipment and Fleet Maintenance (20%) + Responsible for the assessment, purchase, installation, and effective use of on-board camera equipment and technology used to communicate with and route drivers, monitor driver performance and produce driver scorecards, maintain safety compliance, and improve transaction processing. + Resolve all equipment issues promptly to avoid run outs and DOT violations. + Optimizing the use of our equipment (tractors and trailers) and maintaining a replacement schedule for each piece of equipment including a specific timeline for purchase and sale of assets. + During the budgeting process, the DST will annually submit capital requests, along with the supporting analysis, for additional equipment, new or used, that NECO will require to meet their needs. + Responsible for all equipment preventative maintenance and documentation thereof. Financial & Facility Management (10%) + Manage budgets for equipment repair, maintenance, facility upkeep, and safety, ensuring expenses remain within allocated funds and reporting significant variances to the Director of Petroleum Operations. + Coordinate with outside vendors for equipment maintenance, building repairs, and overall facility upkeep. + Oversee cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of company properties, ensuring they remain presentable and in good repair for associates and tenants. + Manage day-to-day tenant compliance and provide support as needed. + Collaborate with Accounting and Compliance to evaluate, select, and manage insurance carrier relationships related to the fleet. Dispatch & Fuel Delivery (10%) + Act as a backup to the Logistics Support Specialist, assisting with dispatch operations as needed. + Deliver fuel during emergencies or driver shortages to maintain NECO’s customer service standards. + Complete all driver onboarding training, required Technical Qualifications, and ongoing refresher courses. + Maintain valid rack cards for all NECO supply locations in the Western NY region. + Hold and maintain a valid CDL Class A with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Ability to work in both office and field settings, including prolonged periods of driving and standing during inspections. + Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for loading/unloading equipment and safety gear. + Required for operating fleet technology, safety equipment, and conducting vehicle inspections. + Must be able to move freely around job sites, fuel terminals, and office settings. + Strong vision and hearing are necessary for conducting inspections, operating vehicles, and training drivers. Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent logistics leadership experience + Must have at least 10 years of hands-on business experience in a similar high demand fast paced logistics/trucking company. + Possess thorough knowledge of all applicable federal and state regulations pertaining to the commercial trucking industry, including knowledge of hazardous materials transport. + Work independently from headquarters and keep the strategy and goals in mind. + Show self-driven ability to lead and manage a team towards achieving their goals. + Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, manage time, organize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. + Valid Driver’s License, Class A, hazmat and tanker endorsements.
