Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Dry Blend Operator to join our team. This position involves operating machinery and equipment in the food flavor dry blending manufacturing process. The Dry Blend Operator will be responsible for ensuring the accurate blending and packaging of dry ingredients while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness in the work area. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating forklifts, handling raw materials, and ensuring product quality throughout the production process. This is a third shift position with hours from 9:45pm to 6:15am, Monday through Friday. This is a union position.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Operate and maintain dry blending, packaging, and filling equipment including blenders, batch controllers, supersack fillers, bag sealers, and forklifts.
+ Monitor and control raw material feed systems to ensure accurate dry blend formulation and packaging parameters.
+ Take samples of raw ingredients and finished products for in-process quality control to ensure adherence to product specifications.
+ Safely handle and operate lifting equipment, including scales and supersacks, to transport and manage raw materials.
+ Ensure a clean, orderly work area by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and following sanitation procedures.
+ Collaborate with the Team Leader/Manufacturing Supervisor to communicate production progress and batch integrity.
+ Follow safety protocols, including Hazard Communication and use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other safety guidelines.
+ Assist other departments as needed, as directed by the Team Leader or Manufacturing Supervisor.
+ Complete other duties as assigned to support production processes and maintain operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
+ Machinery, Tools, and Equipment Knowledge: Must have experience operating dry blending, packaging, and filling equipment. Able to disassemble and reassemble equipment for sanitation and clean-up processes on a daily and weekly basis.
+ Forklift Operation: Must be trained and certified in the safe operation of electric and hydraulic forklifts.
+ Literacy and Basic Math Skills: Able to read and write clearly and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
+ Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to monitor production processes and record data.
+ Material and Process Knowledge: Must be familiar with dry blending materials, process steps, and the correct handling of hazardous chemicals. Understanding of blend/batch sheets and the ability to maintain operational efficiency.
+ Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform repetitive motions, lift and move heavy bags or supersacks, and perform duties involving dexterity such as sealing and palletizing bags.

+ Material and Equipment Responsibility: Handle high-value equipment and materials, ensuring that all batches are blended according to specifications to avoid customer complaints and production delays.
+ Impact on Operations: Accurate mixing is crucial to avoid errors in customer orders. Incorrect blending or packaging could result in production downtime, incorrect deliveries, and customer complaints.
+ Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of concentration to ensure product mixes meet specifications. Accurately record data related to weight, counts, and other key measurements.
Working Environment:
+ This position involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, raw materials, and potentially hazardous chemicals. The Dry Blend Operator must maintain alertness and focus on safety and quality throughout the production process.
