Dual Director of Finance - Franchise
Job Requirements

Collegiate Hotel Group® is seeking a Dual Director of Finance to join Graduate Minneapolis and its brilliant team of hospitality enthusiasts. The Dual Director of Finance will be responsible for the financial functions at two Graduate Hotels in the Midwest Region of the United States and will be based at Graduate Minneapolis. This position has a dual reporting role to each of the respective hotel’s General Managers and dotted line reporting to the Vice President of Accounting. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Manage the financial and accounting functions of two (2) full-service hotels Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles. Manage the closing processes to ensure the timely completeness and comparability of financial statements. Responsible for issuing financial statements, supplemental reporting, and leading the preparation of monthly narrative commentary of financial performance. Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly process for all accounting functions, including but not limited to Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Income Audit, and Cash Management. Ensures compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI). Manage the balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the reconciliations are completed monthly, with appropriate supporting documentation, reconciling items are adjusted timely, and the balance sheet is free of material misstatements.  Implement and monitor the internal control environment to minimize operating risks. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Leads the periodic forecast and budgeting process by collaborating with the hotel leadership team. Implements effective processes to monitor interim financial performance and incorporates observable trends into the forecasts. Leads the preparation of forecast commentary highlighting variances to prior forecasts.  Cultivate effective and trusting relationships with Graduate leaders at all levels, associates, hotel owners, and asset managers. Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired management activities. Hire, retain, and continually develop future financial leaders by creating associate development plans for associates, actively monitoring the progress of associate development, providing one-on-one training, and conducting regular one-on-one meetings to provide consistent associate performance feedback. Regularly monitors and reports operating efficiency metrics of labor and cost of sales to the leadership teams as part of continuous improvement efforts to maximize financial returns. Liaise as required with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies. Collaborate with third-party F&B management companies to ensure accurate, timely, and comparable financial reporting of the F&B operations.  Actively serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Act as a storyteller for our Brand, our hotel, and its decor Work with colleagues to deliver inspirational service Any other job duties as assigned. 

 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, Hospitality, or in a related field of study. 4-5 years of related experience as a Controller or Director of Finance. Area or Regional experience is desirable. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Financial Management Skills: Strong understanding of US GAAP and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry. Excellent finance, accounting, and analytical skills. Proficiency in leading the budgeting and forecasting processes. Cash flow and working capital management. Capital expenditure budgeting. Marginal Profit (Flow-Through) calculation and reconciliation to expected results. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to adapt communication style to align with the intended audience. Strong leadership skills and must have the ability to manage ethically when confronted with ambiguous situations. Detail-oriented; strives for excellence in all assignments. Excellent time management skills. Knowledge of overall hotel operations. Must be able to apply mathematical operations to tasks. Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with a high level of proficiency in Excel. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw reasoned conclusions. Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
