What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: We are currently seeking an I/E Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance & Technical Services team in Freeport, TX Facility where our integrated approach to manufacturing, research and the overall management philosophy allows us to create chemistry for a sustainable future. As a valued contributor to our team, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive engineering solutions associated with maintenance and reliability. Your primary objective will be to support maintenance, operations, capital project activities associated with instrumentation and electrical, involvement with proper design, installation and repair of instrument and electrical equipment according to regulatory and site standards, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Demonstrating knowledge and experience in providing technical guidance, providing technical support to Production, Project Engineering, Turnaround, and other Maintenance staff.

Applying sound technical knowledge of instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical equipment, leading and participating in Accident/Incident investigations and RCFA teams.

Completing action items generated from Audits, PHA’s, Accident/Incident Investigations, and MOC’s, utilizing working and/or educational knowledge of maintenance activities associated with process equipment.

Directing equipment repairs involving on and off-site contract personnel, effectively communicating and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills within a diverse environment.

Managing the Safety Instrumented Systems Lifecycle, including design/engineering/installation and Operation/Maintenance/Modification, contributing effectively with a self-motivated work style and strong leadership ability.

Creating, reviewing, and editing procedures related to repairs, mechanical integrity, and operation of equipment, utilizing knowledge of applicable industry codes.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.  

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.  

Experience: Requires 7+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrating a general knowledge of SAP (Maintenance and Procurement).

Proficiency with Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.

Having a general understanding of NFPA standards as they relate to burner management systems.

Familiarity with Intools (Smart Plant Instrumentation) and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge and experience in managing PSM and Mechanical Integrity program requirement

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
