We’re happy to discuss flexible working hours, patterns, and locations to suit you and the business. **What You'll Be Doing** **Job Scope:** This position reports to the Site Project Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing instrumentation expertise for projects with emphasis on instrumentation specification and design, Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design and specification, work plan writing and preparation, cost estimation, equipment procurement, system startup, data management and reporting, and system troubleshooting (as required) for the client. **Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:** + Manage multiple tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget, with a high degree of internal and external client satisfaction + Communicate project/task status and issues with project manager, client and/or company management + Use engineering discipline and experience to solve project issues during installation + Locate project drawings and provide initial markups to drafting for incorporation + Oversee and prepare designs and work plans, from conceptual design through detailed design packages. Primary focus is on the instrumentation engineering aspect; however, expect involvement in other aspects of the design process. Instrumentation design tasks may include instrument selection, valve specification, cable selection including wire/cable sizing. Other typical design aspects may include preparation of tray routing, wire routes, etc. + Work with Functional Safety Project Manager to prioritize and implement projects to support client migration and PHA efforts. + Provide a basis for utilization of instruments/valves based on client Functional Safety procedures + Develop/update instrument spec sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, electrical schematics, EFDs(P&IDs) + Develop cable schedules, instrument indices, equipment lists, and material takeoffs + Prepare requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors. + Prepare construction and equipment specifications, including means and methods. + Compare bids and recommend the selection of subcontractors and material vendors. + Perform field walks on project opportunities to determine the available DCS connections, existing instruments and control schemes, utility/facility constraints, and assist with preparation of cost estimates. + Work with site DCS team to implement changes to the DCS as it applies to assigned projects + Understand and have experience working with various voltage levels including: 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC + Understand and have experience working with instrumentation systems including: 4-20mA, 0-5VDC, and 0-10VDC **Ideal Background** **Education:** Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required. **Registration:** Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred. **Experience:** This position requires 8+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management. Field Engineering: + Perform the function of field engineer, including hands on field work and/or field engineering, supervision of subcontractors on the jobsite, review of daily work schedule and budget. + Perform QA/QC in the field to ensure construction work is performed in accordance with design specifications. + Communicate and coordinate work quality or safety concerns to the client construction coordinator, project manager, general manager, and technology manager as necessary to ensure proper and safe completion of the project. + Assist the client construction supervisor and system operators with equipment commissioning and startup, and operational troubleshooting as necessary. Required Qualifications: + At least 8 years instrumentation engineering experience + Prefer at least 5 years experience in chemical production or refinery + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Skills: + Knowledge in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) + Experience and practical knowledge with International Electrotechnical Commission Standard IEC 61508 Education Required: + BS or higher Electrical Engineering degree Skills/Aptitudes: + Self-starter + Demonstrated leadership skills + Ability to take direction and act independently + Strong organization skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities + Ability to climb stairs or ladders unassisted Level of Supervision: + Work independently based on general instructions, directions or objectives received from Project Electrical Engineering Technical Lead ​ **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time. \#LI-JP1 **Hargrove Culture** We work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
