This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an **Early Career Biologist** to support either our **San Diego, CA** or **Riverside, CA** offices. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the collection, identification, and compiling of observational and spatial data concerning a variety of vegetation, wetland, wildlife, marine, terrestrial, botanical, and/or avian species. Provides local assistance for the development of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, air emission, pollution control, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of air, water, and land resources. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards. Your Impact + Under general supervision, conduct biological natural resource field surveys collecting observational and spatial data concerning a variety of habitats, wetlands, wildlife, botanical, and/or avian species. + Under general supervision, collect and analyze biological/environmental data for vegetation monitoring. + Assist with performing basic protocol level species surveys and habitat assessments. + Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures. + Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in performing surveys and habitat assessments. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field. + Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience. + Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. + Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. + Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools, including experience with Microsoft Office products and applications. + Ability to uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. + Must have a current valid driver’s license. + Authorization to work in the United States. + Ability to obtain access credentials to federal military installations (i.e., no disqualifying record). **Preferred Qualifications:** + Knowledge about local/regional Threatened and Endangered species, including basic habitat requirements. + Analytical biology skills, and familiarity with survey and monitoring techniques, local/regional ecology and habitats, and local, State, and Federal protection regulations and guidelines. + Experience with ArcGIS and the use of GPS devices for data collection. + A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations. **WSP Benefits:** WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
