**This Opportunity**
WSP is currently initiating a search for an **Early Career Geological/Geotechnical Engineer** to support our Southwest Mountain District. The candidate will sit in our **Tucson, AZ** office.
Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment, Southwest Mountain Geohazards Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. In this role you will be involved in a variety of projects in both the private and public sector, focusing on geologic hazards and geotechnical engineering.
**Your Impact**
+ Projects may include geohazard projects involving landslides, rockfall, and/or debris flows; transportation projects involving foundation design and geotechnical design of bridges, retaining walls, embankments, slopes and pavements; and miscellaneous projects for mining, power, and other clients.
+ Under general supervision, perform engineering tasks such as:
+ Geotechnical and geophysical field investigations
+ Installing geotechnical instrumentation and analyzing instrumentation data such as piezometers, inclinometers, strain gauges, etc.
+ Evaluate geotechnical and geological data to perform site and material characterization
+ Perform foundation, settlement, slope stability, pavement, retaining wall rockfall simulation, and debris analysis, calculations and design.
+ Other geotechnical/geological engineering design and analyses.
+ Preparing portions of technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and engineering designs
+ Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
+ Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
+ Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
+ Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
+ Upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
+ Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Engineer in Training Certification.
+ Preferred coursework includes Rock Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Slope Stability and Stabilization, Foundation Design, Retaining Walls, Geological Field Methods, Hydrology, and other relevant coursework.
+ Experience and or familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e., AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Open Roads, ArcGIS, Rocscience Software Suite, Slope/W, Flo-2D, or similar)
+ Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
+ A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
