Early Career Geologist

Successful candidates will be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the collection, identification, and compiling of environmental and geological data from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor). Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards. **Your Impact** + Oversee soil borings and groundwater monitoring well installations + Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil gas samples in support of site investigation, remedies, and pilot studies from soil and groundwater remediation systems + Collect data in complex field situations with supervision and document field activities + Perform other field exploration, inspection, testing, and analyses using equipment and instrumentation + Prepare components of site investigation reporting including work plans, data summaries, calculations, tables, figures, charts, drawings and report text + Assist Project Managers and project teams, ensuring effective client communication and relations + Organize field work, assign tasks, and work with other staff specialists and technicians to complete assignments + Follow company safety policies and procedures, site safety standards, and permit requirements **Who You Are** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or closely related discipline. + 0 to 1 year of experience + Excellent research skills with analytical mindset. + Familiarity with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products. + Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. + Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience. + Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. + Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. + Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools. + Effective verbal communication skills. + Must have personal transportation. + Physical Demands: Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time either stationary or walking. + Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions, including heat and cold. + Ability to lift 50 pounds. + Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical/ Fit for Duty Exam. + Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. **Preferred Qualifications:** + A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations. \#LI-AB2 **About WSP** WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
