Monday - Friday 1st Shift; 40 hours/week

Job Focus:
The Director is the professional responsible for the operation of the on-site childcare program. The major function of the
Director shall be the supervision of the entire Early Learning Center program and the efficient functioning of the staff.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Development and supervision of the daily childcare programSupervision and orientation of teachers, substitutes and volunteers­Supervision of child recruitment; maintain contact with state and local agencies, which refer preschoolers­Conduct on-going parent/child interviews as well as interviews for admission and/or discharge from center­Develop curriculum for center and implement, supervise and evaluate the sameMake regular and periodic observation of each classroomCoordinate teachers and teacher’s aides in developing classroom plans and objectivesPlan, supervise, and drive for special events and field tripsConduct annual evaluation of department staffCoordinate in-service training for department staffMonitor compliance with regulations for the CHR, the Department of Education, and the local health departmentAttend all pertinent community meetings related to the Early Learning Center as assignedWork with the Fiscal Manager in planning and developing an annual budgetPlan & carry out annual fund raisers to benefit the Early Learning CenterPrepare for and participate in all regulatory inspectionsAssist in preparing and presenting United Way request for fundingKeep very detailed records required per state regulationsProvide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development/education and 3-5 years of similar experience.Classroom, administrative and supervisory experience requiredFamiliarity with CHR licensing regulations & CACFP policies and procedures preferredMust meet requirements of city and state licensing agencies (CPR, First Aid & TB Skin test)Flexibility & strong work ethicGood communications skills (written & oral)Must be prompt and maintain regular attendanceHave a clean and neat appearanceA passion for The Salvation Army’s mission
