East Geography Finance Leader

Arup is seeking an East Geography Finance Leader based in our New York office to spearhead the business partnering team for the East Geography. This role is integral within the senior finance leadership team, collaborating closely with operational leaders in the East Geography to achieve various financial objectives including profit, cash flow, and other targets. Responsible for driving monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, this position conducts thorough financial and operational analyses to support both short-term and long-range strategic plans and operating budgets. Through evaluating data, preparing forecasts, analyzing trends, and communicating results related to operations and general business conditions, the chosen candidate will play an important role in steering the company's financial direction. Serving as a key business partner, they will offer insights and financial management strategies to improve operational performance and overall results.  

 

Responsibilities (appears in job posting as Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: 

Collaborate with business leadership and project managers to improve the financial performance of projects.  Lead all aspects of the business unit budgeting process.  Take charge of the monthly forecasting process.  Prepare monthly financial reports, including variance analysis and project forecasting.  Own the monthly closing and management reporting for the business units.  Review contract terms for compliance with regulations.  Coordinate with other functional departments (Legal, Tax, etc.) on matters related to business activities.  Work with management to provide decision support analysis.  Implement project-specific cost control methods to ensure project profitability.  Conduct variance analyses and forecasting to identify high-risk projects.  Provide mentorship and development opportunities for the finance team, lead work allocation, identify training needs, support personnel with problem resolution, and conduct performance evaluations. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related; MBA/CPA preferred.  Minimum 10 years relevant work experience, preferably in a professional services environment; Architectural and Engineering industry experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of US GAAP revenue recognition and joint venture accounting and basic knowledge of GAAP required. Strong quantitative and analytical skills and is able to interpret financial data, including financial documents, key financial ratios, valuation models and techniques. 

Other: 

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, while also being detail-oriented, thorough, and able to optimally manage time.  High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience involving extensive work with sophisticated spreadsheets.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Teammate with excellent listening skills and willingness to work with multiple colleagues on a broad range of initiatives.  Ability to work in a high-paced environment.  Consultative approach and strong collaborative problem-solving skills.   Proactive and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently and handle change effectively. 

 

New York Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $140,900 to $182,600 per year. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York will differ.
