Echo Tech/Cardiosonographer - Lorain Hospital (PRN)

General Summary
Responsible for performing a variety of cardiac testing: EKG, Holter, Stress Testing and Echocardiography. Exhibits independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Participates in continuously improving the process of care delivery focused upon the customer. Promotes a positive climate for interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships. Demonstrates favorable guest relations and continues to promote values of the hospital in daily work performance. May also perform other related patient care duties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledgeable of department procedures, can operate all equipment in department and demonstrates through clinical interaction with patients, knowledge of growth and developmental needs.Obtains and records images necessary to demonstrate normal and pathological findings. Documents all pertinent information, e.g., lab values, patient histories, etc. Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain clinical competency as required for the department for assignment to work with patients’ growth and developmental needs, particularly related to patients who are: adolescent, adult and geriatric as deemed necessary by designated facility.Demonstrates knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performed.Explains procedure to patient, prepares patient for procedure and obtains and records patient history and consent form (if applicable).Ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure.Demonstrates competent use of a variety of computer functions, enters data in computer, documents all charges and runs incomplete work reports.Performs other clerical duties as needed to maintain optimum department needs and answers telephone, etc.Monitors condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care services.Documents sonographer's impression and relays findings to physician.Assesses, plans, implements and coordinates echocardiographic procedures and patient care during the procedures, directs and monitors echocardiographic procedures performed by other team members. May be requested to assist in stress testing, holter monitoring and EKG's.Performs an appropriate amount of procedures in a reasonable amount of time and utilizes time wisely for efficient department operation.Follows all body substance isolation policies for ultrasound imaging procedures, e.g., wears gloves, gown, masks, shoe covers, and transports specimens in infection control bags.Ensures work area, equipment and supplies are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Assumes responsibility for inventory and reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisors.Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement goals and monitors, participates in performance improvement projects and assists in acquisition of performance improvement data.Attends mandatory annual required hospital in-services. Attends/participates in department in-services and actively participates in continuing education to maintain professional rating as required by accrediting agency.Requirements:
Registry in Echo Sonography or ARDMS certified or registry eligible.Experience:
