Performs Echocardiograms using a departmental protocol for obtaining images. Assists with TEE’s and stress testing, providing images that support the physician’s ability to diagnose patients appropriately. Identifies problems & implements appropriate interventions, including reporting critical values. Sets priorities for completion of studies based on acuity, patient preference and/or the coordination of care with nursing and other ancillary services. Provides EKG and Holter Services when Echo workload permits. Obtains EKGs that reflect appropriate lead placement, minimal artifact, and correct patient information. Set’s up and scans Holter Monitors, providing tracings that support the physician’s ability to diagnose patients appropriately.
Qualifications
Education:
Required: Graduate of accredited CAAHEP or diagnostic medical sonography school, or at least 6 months of clinical experience.
Experience:
Required: 6 months in clinical setting.
Preferred: 2 years.
Certifications:
Required: Registry eligible and AHA BLS.
Preferred: RDMS, RDCS, or RCS.

Description
Performs and monitors echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound) procedures. Calculates, measures, and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians. Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
