Echo Technician | Cardio Northside Mob | Day
Overview Job Duties Performs and supervises cardiac echo sonograms on adult inpatients and outpatients. Essential Functions • Ability to learn new techniques, i.e., TEE. When necessary, coordinates with department to cover short staffing situations. • Ability to use all echo equipment and perform stress echos as requested. • Document inpatient records accurately and efficiently. • Educates patient and family about medical procedure. • Maintains patients filing system. • Provides patient/family instructions and teaching. Maintains patient safety. Reports equipment failure. • Participates in research studies. • Performs appropriate measurements and assessments of M-Mode and Two-Dimensional echoes’. Able to perform appropriate measurements and assessment of TTE, TEE, Dobutamine, Exercise Stress, Structural Heart. Obtainment of intravenous (IV) access or evaluation of an existing IV line for administration of a contrast agent. Administer contrast as ordered by the physician. Performance of the IV injection or the infusion of the contrast agent. • Presents in-service training to staff, residents, and fellows. Attends conferences. Mentors new staff and students Temperament Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, Abilities • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and psychosocial development of adult and pediatrics. • Strong interpersonal skills including a professional and positive demeanor. • Ability to recognize life-threatening rhythms and intervene appropriately. • Ability to calculate test results.
