Echo Technologist

Performs adult echocardiograms under the direction of a cardiologist, with supervision by the Leader of Imaging Services, the Imaging Services Supervisor, and the Lead Ultrasound Technologist. The technologist will perform echocardiograms at a technical level with indirect supervision. This position requires the technologist to work independently and perform quality exams. Performs all activities in an ethical and professional manner. 

Essential Functions

Operates and controls ultrasound equipment, while obtaining good diagnostic quality images and process studies appropriately.

Schedules same day add-on exams and works with the scheduling department to schedule exams in the most economical and efficient manner.

Properly assists, transfers, and immobilizes patients with proper techniques and devices.

CPR certification is required.

Interviews patients and reviews orders, obtains patient history, and reviews prior images and reports.

Assist the cardiologist/radiologist as needed.

Assists in transporting of patients to and from the department as needed.

Accurately enter charges for exams and supplies.

May be required to perform other assignments from time to time as requested by the Department Leader.

Rotate call, holidays, and weekends as needed.


Education:  Associate's degree is required.

License/Certification:  Registered RDCS by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Experience:  One year experience performing adult echocardiography. Experience in performing transesophageal (TEE) and stress echoes is strongly preferred.
