Echocardiographer

Summary

Under the direction of the Director operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment and produces cardiac images according to policy/protocol. Examinations performed include adult echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, contrast echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and pediatric echocardiograms. Responsible for assuring a high level of quality in all exams and providing the interpreting physician with all the necessary information in order to make an accurate diagnosis. Collaborates with other departments to provide procedures in a timely and efficient manner for all involved.

Education

Associates of Science degree in health care field and successful completion of a cardiac ultrasound training program; OR successful completion of a two year Echocardiogram training program; OR Eligible for on-site training by obtaining an Associates of Science in a health care field or Bachelors degree in a health care related field with two years of cardiac related health care experience.

Licensure/Certification

Must have current CPR certification. A valid Echocardiography license from the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography), CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) OR registry eligible and obtain valid certification within 12 months of graduation.

Experience

Previous experience in a similar role preferred.

Other Qualifications

Ability and knowledge of imaging the various anatomical structures and differentiating artifacts. Must be able to lift 75 lbs., 150 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must share responsibility to cover call, weekends and holidays.
