Echocardiographer Supervisor

Position Summary
Performs all diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations that create the images needed for
diagnosis; and integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction
to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. Oversees daily operations and
coordinates work activities and schedules of technical staff. Evaluates staff performance,
records attendance, oversees compliance with all State and Federal Regulatory Standards

Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Performs all cardiac ultrasound including patient positioning, machine set-up, image acquisition,
measurements, and post-processing. Review orders, explain procedure, answer questions and
provide a high level of patient satisfaction.
2. Provides supervision and technical training to technical staff and when warranted delegates
responsibilities to technical staff.
3. Daily operation of the department (staff scheduling, patient scheduling, recordkeeping of patient
history and symptoms)
4. Follow all National Patient Safety Goals. Ensures technical staff is in compliance with Standards.
5. Works with the Medical Director, medical staff, and technical staff to ensure quality patient care
6. Assist physician in the performance of stress echocardiography procedures.
7. Maintains cleanliness of department and assures adequate supply inventory as well as operation
and maintenance of facility equipment.
 

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and Graduate of an Accredited School of
Echocardiography

Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field of Study


Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Three to five years of Echocardiographer experience
Preferred:
Previous supervisory experience


License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac
Sonographer (RCCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing
International (CCI)


Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Good communication and customer service skills. Excellent skills in cardiac
anatomy and physiology and thorough knowledge of Echocardiograph
equipment.
