HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACTYour Role:
Assists the Dir/Respiratory/Cardiopulmonary Services by managing daily Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) activities while ensuring high-quality patient care and optimal outcomes. Develops and contributes to the ECMO program’s growth. Creates, develops, and implements appropriate education/training courses, materials, and competency checklists. Assesses the ECMO program’s functionality and troubleshoots problems. Provides patient care, assesses patients’ needs, plans discharges, and arranges support services to ensure the delivery of effective, high-quality patient care. Provides clinical consultations to physicians and staff members on ECMO interventions. Fosters a collaborative work environment for the team.Encourages professionalism and positive working relationships amongst team members. Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.
Reports To: Dir/Respiratory/Cardiopul Svcs (JC: 012101)
Supervises: None.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLYRequired Education: Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care or a related discipline and the successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved respiratory care program.
Preferred Education: None.
Required Experience: Three (3) years of intensive care unit (ICU) respiratory therapist experience.
Preferred Experience:
Extensive knowledge of ECMO for all phases of patient care.Knowledge of ECMO guidelines and order sets. Knowledge of ECMO equipment. Knowledge of current disease management guidelines. Ability to interpret selective laboratory and diagnostic tests. Ability to display leadership and professionalism.Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of professionals. Ability to educate others effectively. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective time management skills. High degree of organization skills. Computer data entry (e.g., Microsoft Excel) skills.
Required Certification/License/Registry:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the State of Florida Department of Health and the National Board of Respiratory Care. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) certified instructors prior to completion of orientation.
