ECMO Specialist
The ECMO Specialist performs those functions necessary for the support treatment measurement  and/or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and/or circulatory system of the patient through utilization of the ECMO policies and procedures.  The ECMO Specialist performs advanced technical work in the selection preparation operation and maintenance of the ECMO circuitry and ancillary equipment.  The ECMO Specialist is responsible for the knowledge operation and maintenance of a wide variety of technical ECMO equipment and for close cooperation with the attending physician in extra-corporeal practices.    

Prepares for Cases.Manages the equipment and supply maintenance.Preparation of ECMO support.Performs those functions necessary for the support treatmentmeasurement and/or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and/or circulatory system of the patient.Provides for safe environment and delivery of care.Completes didactic and clinical components of ECMO training program within established time frames.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $35.31 - $56.50 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy required or graduate of an accredited school of perfusion required or graduate of an accredited nursing program required. If RN Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree preferred.
Experience: no experience required
Licensure: Perfusion - Certified to practice as a Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion; if new grad certified within four exam offerings. RN – Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Respiratory Therapy – Registered to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, heat, noise, cold, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
