SummaryThe Ecological Consultant role is responsible for assessing, mitigating, and providing recommendations regarding the environmental impacts of engineering projects. This role will be based on the selected job posting location.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Proficiently operates a computer Ability to function in a high-stress environment, be a strong multi-tasker, and be a team playerAnswers client questions and assists them promptlyKnowledge and usage of proper format, grammar, spelling, and punctuation  Conducts fieldwork in the role of Applied Ecologist, producing wetland delineations, imperiled species investigations, protected tree inventories, and FNAI plant community identification and mappingUtilizes ArcMap to generate high-quality maps, sketches, and other graphics for technical reports and environmental permit applicationsAbility to understand and effectively communicate complex ecological and regulatory concepts to both subject matter experts and the general publicUtilizes Tremble GNSS equipment, generate, manage, and manipulate spatial dataAbility to create reports based on the information gatheredRegular attendance is required Follows safety proceduresOther duties may be assignedRequired Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the roleAbility to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)Proficiency in wetland delineation with demonstrable experienceDemonstrate a strong understanding of sediment biogeochemistry and wetland hydrologyBachelor's degree in Environmental Biology, Forestry, or related fieldProficiency with ArcMap, Tremble GPS Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emailsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram formPreferred Qualifications:3-5 years of experience in the same or related fieldMaster’s degree in Biology or related fieldProfessional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist, ISA Arborist, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, Gopher tortoise agent, etc.Previous experience in an A/E/C firm
