Banyan Global is seeking one or more consultants to serve as Team Leads to provide leadership and technical oversight for economic empowerment considerations under Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) technical directives in Africa. These roles will support the economic empowerment of communities in Senegal and Mauritania, focusing on agriculture, fisheries, climate change, land sectors, trafficking in persons (TIP), and safeguarding. The Team Lead(s) will manage consultants, ensure high-quality deliverables, and serve as the primary point of contact with MCC. The position is remote but may require travel to West Africa.

Responsibilities Lead and coordinate a team of international and national technical, research, and sector specialists, including developing work plans, scoping deliverables, and establishing roles and responsibilities.Provide technical feedback and conduct check-ins with consultants throughout the deliverable development process to ensure quality control and timely submission of all MCC deliverables.Serve as the primary point of contact between MCC and Banyan Global, including participating in meetings conducted in French.Conduct desk reviews to support the integration of economic empowerment considerations into policy and program design, identifying global best practices and relevant case studies.Depending on the technical directive, oversee economic empowerment considerations in the following areas:Agriculture, Agricultural and Climate Policy, and Land Policy: Conduct sector analyses, assess land tenure and rights, analyze value chains, and support program design and validation to create equitable opportunities for marginalized groups.Program Implementation Support: Review and integrate considerations into Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), feasibility studies, and contribute to program refinement and closeout activities.Social Safeguards and Risk Mitigation: Assess TIP risks and safeguarding measures, and advise on mitigation strategies aligned with MCC policies and international standards.Learning and Development: Develop and update tools and guidance, conduct literature reviews, and create knowledge-sharing products to capture and disseminate lessons learned and findings. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in economic empowerment within international development. Candidates with additional experience are encouraged to applyLanguage Proficiency: Fluency or high professional proficiency in French is mandatory. Professional proficiency in English is also required.MCC Experience: Prior experience with MCC-funded projects or familiarity with MCC processes is preferred.Communication and Analytical Skills: Strong writing, facilitation, and organizational skills to deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations.Interpersonal and Mentorship Skills: Proven ability to coach and mentor consultants and foster capacity building.Technical Expertise: Demonstration of contributing to the development of deliverables. Experience in one or more of the following is advantageousIntegration of economic empowerment in agriculture, fisheries, climate change, and land sectors.Conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and developing Social Integration Plans.Research and analysis of land tenure, value chains, or conservation initiatives.

 

The daily rate will be commensurate with the candidate’s background and experience.
