Summary See below for important information regarding this job. Responsibilities Serves as an Economist in the Futures Integration and Posture Directorate (FIPD). Utilizes expert knowledge of business case analysis (BCA) development/review and understands the economic impact of innovative energy technologies on Department of Defense (DoD) Energy supply chains. Provides economic analysis of future changes across the energy ecosystem. Applies economic principles and techniques to research domestic and international energy markets. Monitors the overall economic analysis activity conducted by the Division and provides authoritative guidance concerning model usage and the validity of results. Uses mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze industries potentially affected by proposed or ongoing energy volatility. Collects and evaluates research and scholarly articles to use as a basis for improving and revising DLA Energy policy and procedures, or innovative ecosystem requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for an Economist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Basic Requirement: A.) Degree in Economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus, OR B.) Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. Unless otherwise stated: Unofficial transcripts are acceptable at time of application. B. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Utilizing economic principles and techniques in order to research Clean and Fossil Fuel Energy markets. Preparing and presenting authoritative, comprehensive economic Energy studies. Using accounting and financial techniques to make price and cost determinations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
