**About the Role:** **Grade Level (for internal use):** 09 **About the Role** **The Team:** Your manager will be the head of Oil News for the Americas. Your peers will support you and value the contributions you make to your team. **Responsibilities and Impact** We are looking for a journalist who can develop reliable sources, with the aim of producing forward-looking breaking news stories. You should also be able to mine market data to produce data-driven stories. Commodities Insights news showcases the company’s commodity price benchmarks and analytics to deliver market-relevant insight that is unavailable anywhere else. People read Commodities Insights news because it helps them make profit-critical decisions. + You will report on oil markets and the industry in the Americas, with emphasis on North American oil midstream, including pipelines, terminals, and shipping. + Content you create (stories, graphs, infographics, podcasts, webcasts, webinars, etc.) will be focused on the policy and regulatory impacts on supply/demand and prices, with the support of fellow news reporters, data, and analysis from Platts Analytics and Platts oil price benchmarks. + Your major area of focus will be US oil midstream. + You will be expected to think ahead, covering potential developments in US crude and refined products pipeline and waterborne transportation. **Compensation/Benefits Information** S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan. A commitment to the highest journalistic standards is expected. A curiosity about the energy industry - energy commodities in particular – will provide a resourceful self-starter with plenty to write about. A sharp understanding of the ongoing US energy transition will be an advantage. The person who will succeed in this job will be passionate about reporting, understanding complicated subject matter and effectively communicating in multiple formats. Explaining market, industry, and government developments clearly and concisely for a time-starved audience is the key. Working well with an experienced, talented group of colleagues also is a must. **Basic Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree required. Journalism, Economics and/or Business. + 3+ years of reporting/writing experience, preferably in energy markets, but also as a broader business or financial journalist. + Flexible journalist able to cover developments from various regions in the Americas as needed. + Concise writing style, numerate. + Research and analytical capabilities with the ability to locate, interpret and leverage a variety of information, including market data, regulatory, legal, and corporate documents. + Bachelor’s degree required.
