Job Title: Education & Employment Specialist – Intensive Services Unit
Job Summary:
CASES is seeking an Education and Employment Specialist for the Intensive Services Unit Team. The Education and Employment Specialist will assume a pivotal role in assisting participants in reaching their educational and employment goals. The Education & Employment Specialist involves delivering comprehensive educational, vocational, and employment support services with the overarching objective of fostering recovery and stability within the community. The Intensive Services Unit initiative will implement innovative approaches to working with individuals who have been placed in the Supervised Release Program and experience more extensive needs and challenges that may impact daily functioning and overall program engagement. The Education and Employment Specialist will be an active partner in providing direct services to participants primarily in the community with additional services being provided at other CASES program locations.
Salary: The salary for the Education & Employment Specialist is $57,500 per year.
Shift Hours: The Education & Employment Specialist is working full-time Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Location Address: 4 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027 and engaging within the community throughout NYC.

What you will be doing:
Conduct comprehensive assessment of participants’ educational background, skills, and employment aspirations. Develop individualized plans to guide participants toward their educational and employment objectives. Provide personalized career counseling to assist participants in identifying and achieving their professional goals. Offer guidance on suitable educational paths, vocational training, and employment opportunities. Facilitate job search strategies, including resume building, interview preparation, and networking techniques. Actively support participants in navigating the job market and securing meaningful employment. Use motivational Interviewing techniques as appropriate to help guide participants to goal achievement; Facilitate Employment readiness group sessions and conduct workshops to build employment readiness skills to empower participants with essential skills for the job market; Collaborate with community resources, educational institutions, and employers to create partnerships that enhance opportunities for participants. Connect participants with relevant resources to support their educational and employment journey. Offer support, encouragement, and constructive feedback to all participants Collaborate with the ISU clinical team to provide support in various responsibilities, ensuring seamless assistance to all ISU participants.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in job placement and educational counseling within a social service setting. Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring substance use disorders; Highly organized with an ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the capacity to forge strong relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to promoting education and employment equity. Comfortable in communicating with stakeholders and cultivating partnerships. Must be able to lift 5-10 lbs. Must be able to sit for extended periods. Must be able to navigate the 5 boroughs of NYC and perform field work in a variety of weather conditions.
