This EC 4 serves as the Health and Physical Education Director serves as the agency’s subject matter expert and is responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of LDOE initiatives related to health and physical education, including Adapted Physical Education, K-12 state content standards, and support to school systems. Activities associated with this position include determining program goals and objectives, coordinating engagement with multiple stakeholders, facilitating and monitoring quality health and physical education programs, developing professional learning and resources, analyzing educational program data, and preparing written reports for the legislature. The incumbent in this position will develop and maintain an in-depth current knowledge regarding the subject and program area. Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply: Experience in health and physical education in K-12 school systems, experience coordinating large-scale projects and working across complex systems, health and physical education content expertise, and an educational background and/or content-related work experience in the area of health and physical education, as well as the following: + Strong knowledge base in health and physical education content, Louisiana K-12 Student Standards for Health Education and Physical Education, and in-depth understanding of latest research in health and physical education education + At least 5 years experience teaching and/or otherwise supporting students and educators from a variety of backgrounds and with diverse needs + Experience teaching or supervising Adapted/Adaptive PE + Graduate-level degree in a program of study with a focus on health and physical education education, health and physical education curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or similar + Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, as well as effective organizational skills, maximizing the use of technology, and strong project management and customer service skills + Proficient experience facilitating professional learning for adults + Ability to work as part of a team + Ability to manage a team to move work forward + Ability to engage in the observation and feedback cycle to refine strategy and plans through an ongoing improvement cycle + Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver a common and consistent message to the field in support of Louisiana’s health and physical education goals + Experience leading or participating in open public meetings + Efficient and effective use of various software systems (Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, etc.) + Previous project management experience ** Note regarding the advertised pay range : The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.
