Education Coordinator

Responsibilities: As an Education Coordinator, you will play an important role in the lives of the people we support. Initiate and monitor the progress of all Special Education referrals for early childhood aged children. This includes gathering all necessary material. Facilitating appropriate parental consent, advocating with the Committee on Pre-School Education and the Committee on Special Education. Expedite evaluation and placement, participating in Committee on Special Education meetings, arranging for busing and making recommendations around the selection of a program, as well as providing input and recommendations around decisions to mainstream a child, or continue that child in Special Education. + Assess the academic needs of youth upon admission to care. Recommend appropriate services including special education, tutoring, etc. and assist families in obtaining services through school, agency and community providers.* + Advocate for stability of school placements of youth upon admission to care, if transferred while in foster care, and when discharged from foster care and assist with coordination of transportation.* + Ensure all eligible Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students are enrolled in appropriate school programs. + Ensure that all academic reports and documentation (Evaluations, IEP's, FBA/BIP'S, etc.) of services is obtained and filed in the appropriate agency hard drive folder for all early childhood aged youth Schedule: + Monday-Friday Requirements: + BA or BS in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Related Field with 3 years previous experience in treatment planning / educational planning / IEP development. Additional Requirements: + Currently working on a Master's in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or Related Field. Or: + MA or MS in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Related Field. + Bilingual Spanish preferred + Previous experience working with at-risk youth and families in the child welfare / social services field. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
