This includes developing and supporting educator talent across Louisiana, which includes, but is not limited to program administration, program improvement, outcomes measurement, preparing reports as they relate to certification for BESE, the legislature, and other bodies, and communication. As Chief of Staff, this position reports to and works closely with the Deputy Assistant Superintendent on managing the coordination and support of internal/external staff (including educator preparation, educator credentialing, educator evaluation and accountability, and educator development), external stakeholders, vendors, and local schools systems. In addition to the duties and responsibilities above, this position will be responsible for the following projects and program areas: + Facilitate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, and district staff and partners, including the development of programming for teachers new to the profession. + Build an effective, research-based professional development standards and delivery model to ensure that local educators have access to the resources and tools needed to support effective teaching and learning. + Continue to support and expand the leadership pipeline for talented local educators through the development and implementation of Louisiana Content Leaders and Mentor Teachers. + Develop new and build on existing partnerships with teacher preparation providers, including teacher prep accountability. + Build and support the development and implementation of educator accountability and workforce development. Meets with high-level state and local officials on matters relating to the department and may represent the superintendent or deputy superintendent at meetings, conferences, etc. Reviews and makes recommendations to the unclassified executive for departmental budget revisions in matters related to personnel services, equipment, materials and capital outlay for the office, performance indicators, and operational plans. Prepares responses for the unclassified executive on complex and sensitive matters affecting the office and the department, such as audit resolutions, compliance issues, and resolving complaints, as well as to direct the preparation of special academic and nonacademic reports relating to the office and the department.
