Job Purpose or Objective(s): The High School Student Services Education Information Specialist will work with parents, students, school administration and Choctaw Nation programs to assist Choctaw students in grades 9th – 12th enrolled in a high school within 10.5 counties of the Choctaw Nation by providing educational information to promote college and career path beyond high school. You will report to the Director of High School Student Services.
The Education Information Specialist is a dynamic role that involves extensive travel, typically four to five days per week during the school year, to schools and events within the reservation and occasional travel outside the reservation. The position requires flexibility, with standard work hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, varying based on business needs, and potential weekend work for special events. This role is vital in promoting educational initiatives and building relationships within the community.

Start Rate $22.83/ hour
Primary Tasks:
1. You will guide communication between area schools, agencies, communities, Choctaw Nation, and other referral organizations.
2. Inform parents and school personnel once per semester by letter or email concerning a student’s declining grades and attendance by notifying them of Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma program opportunities which provide services to include tutoring and mentoring.
3. Provide authorization forms, student success planners, and opportunities throughout the school year by mail, email, and Blackboard Connect.
4. Create flyers, spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets), videos, and social media posts to keep Choctaw parents and students in grades 9th – 12th informed of programs.
5. You will share educational information with parents, Choctaw students, and school personnel at parent teacher conferences, school visits, and college/career fairs.
6. Prepare presentations to include Oklahoma’s Promise, Blackboard Connect, Mizuni data program, and social media to share with other departments inside and outside of the Choctaw Nation.
7. Create and share senior spreadsheet which includes contact information, college preference and major with Choctaw Nation Human Resources, Health, College Freshman Year Initiative, Higher Education, and Career Development programs.
8. Prepare general correspondences, memos, and letters to promote program.
9. Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or 4 years directly related experience.
· Strong interpersonal and time management skill
· Work independently with moderate direction and communicate both orally and in writing
· Knowledge and ability to work with appropriate hardware and software applications
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Database skills and scanner knowledge
· Two (2) years’ experience in Education or related field
