The Virginian-Pilot is seeking a passionate and skilled Education Reporter to cover multiple school districts. What you will do:

Identify and report on trends impacting school districts in the region

Cover school board politics and their effects on education

Produce impactful investigative, explanatory, and feature stories on education-related topics

Create diverse content including photos, videos, tweets, web updates, and in-depth print articles

Collaborate effectively with reporters, photographers, and editors

What you will bring:

Strong news judgment and a collaborative approach

A passion for in-depth reporting and storytelling

Proficiency in various content creation formats

A college degree and at least two years of daily journalism experience (preferred)

A strong understanding of digital media and its role in journalism

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
