Responsibilities
As part of the Education Team within the Center for Regenerative Biotherapeutics (CRB), the Education Specialist II will help ensure training and education needs are met to ensure full compliance with GMP and Quality System requirements.
Responsible for proactive identification of and planning for department, laboratory and work unit education and training needs in collaboration with leadership. Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of educational and training programs for medical trainees (residents, fellows, post docs, etc.), students, interns and allied health staff in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Participates as clinical education faculty in formal education programs within the Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) as assigned. Teaches, trains and mentors students and other education personnel/employees. Maintains knowledge and skills in laboratory/work area specialty and in education methodologies.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Four years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and two years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.. Prior experience in teaching, training and mentoring students and employees. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), strong organizational skills and self-initiative; patience and the ability to effectively coach and mentor others. Experience in developing education and training programs is preferred. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis, and delivery of information. Able to work as a team member including taking direction from others. Able to work independently. Able to manage projects. , ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
