Educator RN (Registered Nurse), Develop Innovation & ResearchReq #:0000182063 Category:Nurse Educator Status:Full-Time Shift:Day Facility:RWJ Rahway Department:Develop Innovation & Research Location: RWJ Rahway, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065 Job Summary: The Educator RN is a registered professional nurse who has the expertise in education and/or specific area of nursing practice e.g. critical care, wound care, perioperative care etc. The Educator RN must be able to assess data relevant to the learner s progress and interpret the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans. They are responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for all levels or professional, technical, and ancillary staff in a variety of clinical areas and hospital departments consistent with the hospital s mission, vision, philosophy, and core values. Programs include the orientation of new employees, in-service education relevant to the hospital environment, and continuing education offerings which are expected to maintain and/or improve competency and work performance. Qualifications: Required: + Graduate from an accredited school or university + Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree + Experienced and demonstrates clinical competence in Wound Care + 2 years general practice and 1 or more years experience in area of clinical specialty + 3 to 5 years relevant clinical practice + Basic computer skills + Successful completion of all Orientation Programs Preferred: + MSN preferred (Clinical, Administration, Education) + Minimum of 1-year previous teaching experience in a service setting Certifications and Licenses Required: + Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey + Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association + ACLS from the American Heart Association + Course completion in IV Therapy required or obtained with 6 months of hire depending on area of specialty + Wound and Ostomy certifications or completion within 1 year of hire into a wound care specialty Scheduling Requirements: + Full-Time + Day shift + 40 hours per week + Able to be flexible with schedule Essential Functions: Assumes responsibility for the overall functioning of the clinical areas. Coordinates nursing care and practice as well as wound care activities in conjunction with the philosophy, policies, procedures, and program plans of the hospital. Evaluates appropriateness of wound consult patients, coordinates care/patient education and follow-up. Acts as a liaison with physicians and other health care team members. Participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs for staff education and patient care as needed, including Prevalence and Competency Days. Develops and participates in unit QI Assumes some varied and flexible scheduling to meet patient and staff needs. Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and Care. Special Physical Demands: Walking, lifting, sitting, driving. Environmental Conditions: Infrequent exposure to blood, excrement, odors, infection and communicable diseases.
