Educator Sterile Processing
Overview:

*All positions are located in Fresno/Clovis CA*

 

Your role as an Educator in Sterile Processing at Community Medical Centers (CMC) will be challenging -but also very rewarding.  In this role, you will directly impact staff education across three (3) acute care hospitals in our system and be responsible for developing tools, competencies and retention methods. You will gain well-rounded experience in dealing with various service lines and interact frequently with the OR and sterile processing leadership and staff.

With 40 operating rooms across our system and over 14,000 cases per year, the average day is anything but average and you will actively see and feel how your efforts directly impact your community and supports our mission “to improve the health status of the community and promote medical education”.  From building trays and cleaning/sterilizing instruments to ensuring that all instrument inventory is organized and ordered in a timely manner-- we deliver the excellent care and attention to detail that our patients deserve.

As the Sterile Processing Educator you will collaborate with Perioperative services to develop and organize educational content and curriculum; evaluate, revise and implement educational programs, and other related materials needed.

In this role some of your key responsibilities would include but are not limited to:

Organizes and conducts educational sessions and formal trainings on a regular basis, incorporating appropriate teaching methodologies to meet identified needs and course objectives. Determines measurable goals and objectives for educational programs.Conducts competency evaluations through skill demonstration and written assessments to determine areas for performance improvement.Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, operational efficiency and that services are provided in accordance with State and Federal laws and regulations, organizational policy and accreditation compliance requirements.Researches, studies and participates in continuing education programs to: improve course curriculum and content, improve interaction between employees and patients, update best practices, and maintain professional competence and skills.
Qualifications:

Experience and education minimum requirements:

High school diploma or GED3 years of experience in Sterile Processing Department and/or Operating Room3 years of experience in education development, implementation, quality improvement and program development, and/or leadership

License and certification minimum requirements:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification

License and certification within 1 year of entry into role:

Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) Certification Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) Certification Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) Certification
