EEG Technician II FT


EXTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY: $7,500 SIGN ON BONUS after 90 days of hire.
 

Major Responsibilities:

Performance of END procedures with technical interpretations including electroencephalographic and evoked potential procedures and ICU Monitoring, 24hour EEG and the ability to perform Transcranial Dopplers.Provides complete documentation for each procedure and maintains necessary records. Reports behavioral observations. Reviews patient’s existing records to aid in the assessment of the recording procedure.Provides appropriate patient care, maintains environment that is safe based on age and developmental status. Providing detailed observations of clinical manifestations during a seizure and/or other patient emergency situations, while demonstrating the use of appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age and cognitive statusAssists the coordinator in the development and implementation of in-service education for departmental staff. Works with Coordinator in the development of technical staff by providing cross- training in services and on-the- job training demonstrations.Provides education to patients and families through direct and/or indirect contact; ensuring the education provided is appropriate for age and developmental status of the patient/family.Departmental Quality Activities: Ensuring technical expertise and excellence by discussing with coordinator; assisting in development, implementation, and data gathering; working with coordinator to improve departmental processes; actively participates as a team member in QI and various other hospital, organizational and departmental teams.Technical Resource Activities: maintains contact and serves as a technical   resource person for clinicians and other personnel regarding electroneurophysiologic procedures performed in the department, adheres to departmental, hospital and organizational policies and procedures, and assists Coordinator in the evaluation and writing of departmental procedures.

Licensure Required:

ABRET or BRPT RegistrationCPR Certified


Education/Experience Required:

High school educationTypically requires 3-4 years in EEG/EPGraduate of an accredited school of EEG Technology preferredThis position will need to recognize the need and behaviors of a variety of age groups treated, i.e. understanding child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires teamworkWork may be performed in all units of hospital, including ER.Work with all age groups and types of disabilitiesRequires flexible schedule and at times long work hours.Training and assisting in Electroneruophysiologic and polysomnographic proceduresCapable of dealing with hazardous materialsAbility to stand for length of time.Ability to bend and/or kneel for a length of time.Ability to move equipment to do portable procedures.Ability to meet flexible staffing needs.Ability to do light, medium, and heavy lifting.May be exposed to life threatening diseases.If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
