As a Registered EEG Technologist at Cleveland Clinic, you will work under the direct supervision of the coordinator, and you will be responsible for performing routine testing procedures on patients. Your duties will include: 

• Preparing for testing by checking calibration and supplies on-hand. 

• Performing EEGs, nerve condition velocity, and sensory nerve condition velocity testing on patients.  

• Educating patients on testing procedures to ease patients throughout the process.  

• Administering peripheral and cerebral vascular doppler examinations. 

• Understanding and utilizing formulas to calculate test results.

Responsibilities:

Selects predetermined electrode combinations and observes patient with video recording equipment.Ensures EEG and tape are lined up exactly; checks focus, lighting and microphone.Abstracts relevant information from the patients clinical record and obtains additional information.Performs electroencephalographic examinations on patients. Schedules and organizes special procedure tests, angiography, X-ray studies, etc.Serves as an instructor for new personnel and prepares new personnel for successful completion of registry exams.Provides training in the interpretation of EEG recordings, applications and the academics of EEG technology.Maintains equipment in clean operating condition and performs proper maintenance.

Education:

Associate's Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related patient care field.

Certifications:

Must be a registered EEG Technician (R.EEG.T).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Complexity of Work:

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

Minimum one year experience as an EEG Technician.

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds.Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
