Job Description
Leads by example through maintaining and requiring a high level of compliance with health and safety policies, standards, and regulations. Actively promotes safety and health awareness to hospital and contract employees through training, safety – environmental rounds, EH&S audits, and site inspections. Ensures compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations, laws, policies, and procedures. Actively participates in, supports, and promotes health and safety initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure all unplanned, off-site discharge of hazardous materials and wastes are immediately reported internally and managed per hospital’s policy and procedures including post-incident risk management.Manage hazardous and medical wastes per regulations, including permitting, storage, and transportation.Ensure that all incidents are promptly and correctly reported, investigated, and effective measures are taken to prevent reoccurrence.Manage hazardous and universal waste.Maintain hazard communications including MSDS records.Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuations.Provide support to all site personnel in meeting their environmental objectives.Participate in regulatory, risk assessment, and HAZMAT response teams.Provide regulatory information to internal and external customers.Maintain storage and retrieval of regulatory records.Track emerging regulations and communicate the potential impact to appropriate personnel.Essential SkillsKnowledge of EH&S, environmental safety, and environmental compliance.Experience with OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA safety, and OSHA regulations.Certification in OSHA Hazwoper.Skills in hazardous waste and hazardous material handling.Ability to conduct risk assessments and audits.Knowledge of regulatory requirements and HAZMAT procedures.Experience in site inspection, compliance, and risk management.Proficiency in maintaining safety records.Strong interpersonal, communication, training, and influencing skills.Good organizational and project management skills.Ability to apply safety policies and procedures.Knowledge of chemical synthesis of products and chemical control regulations.Knowledge of OSHA 1910/1911.Knowledge of health regulations and/or occupational/industrial health.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.2+ years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience in management and compliance of health and safety programs in the healthcare industry.Ability to work within a diverse work environment and assist in compliance with safety regulations.Skills in hazardous materials management, “community right to know”, hazard recognition, and risk management.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Healthcare environment, but is office-based. The office is located approximately five miles away from the hospital. Project Management, Resource Management, Facilities Systems, and Facilities are located at this offsite. One executive director and five directors from different business units are onsite. The team size will range from 25-35 employees at this location. Trips to the hospital will be required as needed to perform environmental duties. The dress code is business formal. Hours can start at 6:30am, 7:00am, or 7:30am. This position is in office, no remote work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $57.00
