The position’s primary responsibility will be to learn about worker safety while sustaining and assuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Your Day to Day:

Review and make recommendations to improve facility safety procedures to ensure they are usable by plant employees, reflect industry best practices, meet regulatory requirements while promoting a Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture.   

Safety procedures may include: 

Control of hazardous energy (LOTO) Hearing Conservation PPE related procedures Confined Space Hazardous Communication.

 

Participate in injury and illness investigations to provide plant management with recommendations to prevent recurrence.  Recordkeeping for injuries and illnesses plant wide.  This data shall be trended and analyzed.  This will require interfacing with plant personnel including hourly employees and management. Identify workplace safety hazards using ergonomic evaluations to ensure compliance to the Corporate Code of Practice. Utilize hazard reviews such as the RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) tool or other ergonomic tools when investigating repetitive motion injuries (RMIs).  The Corporate code of practice will require review and comparison to site procedures to ensure compliance. Any gaps found would require recommendations. Participate in Industrial Hygiene surveys and employee exposure monitoring. Learn how to draft industrial hygiene reports. Participate in work area hazard assessments to ensure requirements set in place are adequate.  Other testing may be required or at least an understanding of what is required.

What you need to be successful in this role:

Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline or life or physical sciences, or other EHS related subject matter GPA of 3.0 or higher is required Must be a completed Sophomore by May 2025
