EHS Manager

As an EHS Manager, you will lead workplace Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programs to reduce incidents, maintain compliance and instill a culture of operational EHS excellence for PPG’s Huron and Sheffield Village, Ohio manufacturing sites.

You will report to the United States & Canada (USCA) Central Region EHS Director and partner with the plant manager to drive best practices to sustain PPG’s EHS mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direction and guidance to site management in the development of EHS goals that drive continuous improvement.

Engage (communicating, influencing, collaborating) with employees, supervisors and management in the workplace every day to support an operational EHS excellence culture.

Coordinate the incident management program and support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.

Provide technical advice on EHS regulations and PPG requirements to ensure compliance; Prepare regulatory reports and develop solutions to a variety of safety, industrial hygiene and environmental issues.

Drive key safety initiatives including job safety analysis, site safety observations, risk mitigation, and Management of Change.

Conduct critical EHS tasks such as identification of hazards, prioritizing risks, verifying adequacy of hazard controls and tracking compliance with laws and regulations.

Lead various safety teams and committees; Develop agenda for monthly EHS leadership team meeting; Facilitate EHS improvement teams.

Conduct comprehensive reviews and self-audits of environmental, health, and safety programs to assure compliance PPG standards and regulatory requirements; Recommend strategies to achieve improvements in EHS key performance indicators.

Lead and mentor one direct report.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Safety Sciences, Occupational Health, Environmental Management, engineering or related discipline.

7+ years of demonstrated experience, preferably in manufacturing or related industries.

Must possess a “hands on” approach to problem solving and driving cultural change.

Prime success factors include the ability to influence, be creative, provide unique points of view and promote a strong safety culture.
