This is a FULL-TIME, ONSITE, DIRECT HIRE POSITION located in Springfield, MO
Position Summary:
The EH&S Manager will have responsibility for ensuring that ABEC's US operations (Springfield, Missouri and Bethlehem,Pennsylvania)) are conducted in compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations, at all times. The incumbent in this role will assure that the company maintains constant awareness of all current applicable regulations and has appropriate SOP's and Work Instructions in place to address such regulations. Additionally, the EH&S Manager will ensure that all employees are trained in the procedures relevant to their respective area of operations and will verify that those procedures are followed properly by conducting internal audits and inspections as deemed necessary. This role will interface closely with all levels of the Manufacturing function. Additionally, interaction with the Quality Control and HR functions will be required in order to assure a common understanding of company objectives, operational strategies, and cross-functional compliance at all levels of the organization.
The EH&S Manager will provide leadership in the developmental and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs focused on achieving the highest level of operational safety and regulatory compliance. Such efforts will ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of all hazardous or regulated materials, as well as safe operational practices by ABEC employees, both within company facilities and at off-site customer locations, in order to protect employees, customers, and the environment. This position is also responsible for the formal reporting of EH&S data to respective agencies such as OSHA, EPA, SEP, etc.
Responsibilities:
Provide safety support and information to employeesIdentify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programsAssist in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activitiesDevelop/Update Job Hazard Analyses/Risk Assessments as neededPerform internal safety auditsSupport emergency preparedness proceduresAssist in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipmentPromote safety awareness through communication and specific training programsLiaise with Chairpersons of each of the ABEC Safety Committees communicate best practices with other sitesSchedule/Conduct/Evaluate Emergency Response Drills at siteSuccessfully manage and complete all EH&S related work assignments and duties in a timely mannerConduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors and visitorsAssist in the development and implementation of EH&S related policies, procedures and programs to assure compliance with all federal, state, local and company-specific regulations & requirementsReview incident reports (accidents and near misses) and follow-up as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of all information providedConduct EH&S related workplace inspections and participate in accident/incident investigations to identify root-cause and appropriate corrective actionsCoordinate with HR on Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work matters Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient mannerMaintain required detailed recordkeeping; report EH&S required data to Corporate OfficeMonitor and report on plant safety goals and objectivesEnsure understanding of all EH&S and regulatory requirements needed to maintain a safe work environmentExecute other tasks as assignedAbility to travel when requiredWill play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity. Requirements 5-7 years' experience at a management level in this specific discipline, preferably with direct responsibility for multi-site operationsAssociates (2 year) degree, ideally related to workplace safety, industrial engineering, or similar disciplinePractical knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirementsPractical knowledge of SHARP/VPP programs a plusApplies engineering controls, administrative procedures and work practices to address EHS risksManages the compiling, updating and analysis of all appropriate data to ensure EHS compliance with government regulations and company standardsDemonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office productsPreferred First-Aid/CPR/AED CertifiedAwareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus. Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus
