EHS Manager

Summary:

The EHS Manager function utilizes the existing procedures and their acquired knowledge to provide EHS technical support. In this role you will be responsible for three Texas based locations through coordination of EHS activities and programs. As an EHS Manager you will support the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the environmental, health, and safety systems for the plants. You will work collaboratively with the Corporate EHS team, Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams. This position will report directly to the Director of EHS for Residential Operations.
 

Essential Duties:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist site managers in ensuring that all significant risks to health and safety are identified and assessed and that appropriate risk control measures are implemented and maintained.

Ensure that Corporate EHS Applications elements are embedded in the operation and these practices are driving the appropriate behavior.

Guide Environmental, Health, and Safety activities at three Texas locations.

Drive and guide on-site EHS support that leads the plant’s EHS management system through proactive engagement with the location EHS program champions.

Assist Director of EHS - Residential with the creation and execution of strategic initiatives.

Ensure the plants are current on all relevant Environmental, Health and Safety documents, including Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP).

Support environmental compliance efforts and monitor permit requirements.

Identify training programs to meet plant needs, tracking training progress, and on-boarding plant employees with environmental responsibilities.

Conduct audits to monitor personnel and workspace improvements and develop corrective actions to close gaps.

Facilitates with program champions to support the location’s periodic environmental, health and safety management system self-assessments against the Corporate EHS policies.

Ensure that Corporate EHS management practices are embedded in the operation and these management practices are driving the appropriate behavior.

Assist with the new employee orientation process and assure completion of EHS training for all employees.

Use data to make recommendations on changes to training programs, SOPs, JSAs, and tools to prevent accidents, and educate and protect employees.

Lead incident investigations, development of corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned.

Ensure the findings of accident investigations, safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments are brought to the attention of leadership and others who may be affected.

Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts with capital and engineering projects.
 

Under This Roof, We Require:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical or Environmental Engineering or a related field preferred but not required.

Certified Safety Professional, (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist, (CIH) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) preferred.

Minimum 5+ years of work experience in workplace environmental, health and safety program management.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, policies, programs, PPE, environmental policies (EPA), safety engineering, accident/injury investigation procedures and operating rules, etc.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with computer skills. (Google Suite)

Excellent organizational and time management skills, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work flexible hours and business travel when needed
