EHS Manager
Overview THIS JOB IS NOT REMOTE The EHS Manager is responsible for the development and facilitation of the full environment, health and safety programs inclusive of security for the distribution center. This position will create a strong safety culture through the implementation of best practices and demonstrated in-depth knowledge, understanding and application of environment, health and safety and workers' compensation laws and regulations and translates them into actionable processes. This role will dotted-line report to the Sr. Site Director with the expectation of helping site leader execute their strategic vision for the facility and will be a key partner with the operations leadership team to ensure effectiveness of all safety programs down to all non-exempt employees within the facility. Responsibilities Transform the culture of safety to be a priority for every employee within the distribution center! In cooperation with Site Leadership, develop the build and execute safety strategy in support of Supply Chain’s strategic goals to reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents by fostering a culture of safety. Leverages metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern and drive accountability through established formalized JSA’s & risk assessments (incident rates, near miss programs, etc.) Responsible for developing safety programs & managing site security in partnership with the site leader. Measure site’s performance against published requirements in EHS policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies. Drive accountability for the plan. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Foot Locker Policies. Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional/domestic regulations and company policy. Owner of reviewing & approving all safety investigations to ensure accuracy, fairness, and timeliness of investigations & documentation. Approver of any disciplinary actions related to safety incidents & investigations. Responsible for delivering safety strategy in alignment with expectations from Director of Safety Own all environmental permits & reporting requirements for DC through management of site compliance calendar. Ability to drive reduction within workers compensation through improvement of safety performance through effective root cause analysis & corrective actions. Develops and implements training programs and safety awareness campaigns to transfer safety knowledge and core competencies to management and team members with a focus on behavioral safety competencies. Investigates environmental incidents with facilities personnel and provides safety, accident prevention, and investigation training for Supervisors and Managers. Monitors regulatory arena for new/changing regulations and rulemaking, to include the hazardous communication programs, maintains product labeling systems, SDS inventory, communicates chemical hazards, and employee training. Oversee the Supply Chain’s Environmental Social Responsibility (ESG) efforts for the distribution center. Work to foster an atmosphere of openness and information sharing to encourage a culture of high awareness, transparency, and diligence with respect to safety matters. Works in partnership with the company workers compensation. Manages the distribution process for injury and accident investigations and Workers Compensation hearings to ensure legal compliance, including the post-accident drug and alcohol testing process. Maintains distribution centers required documentation and reporting for OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and other governmental mandates for the compliance of safety initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field preferred or equivalent experience. Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing health and safety compliance. Minimum five (5) years’ experience within Distribution, Supply Chain/Logistics or Manufacturing experience. Minimum two (2) years’ experience of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management. Familiarity with pertinent regulations including OSHA, EPA, DOT, as well as state, and local HS regulations. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent designations are preferred. Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort in interacting with site leaders. Benefits The annual base salary range is $80,000- $120,000/ year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
