The Safety, Health & Environmental Manager (commonly referred to as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager externally) will lead the facility in safety and environmental initiatives at Ecolab’s Garland manufacturing plant. S/he will take safety programs from the implementation stage to integration, providing superior training and partnering with the leadership team and front-line associates to influence change while achieving a commitment to a culture of safety among employees.
Partnering with plant leadership s/he will drive sustainability initiatives to decrease utilization of energy and improve recycling. As the key representative to outside agencies s/he will also drive compliance with regulatory and environmental permits. S/he will be responsible for overall building appearance, cleanliness, comfort, functionality, safety and security. In this TPM environment this change agent will gain recognition from supply chain management & expect to take on additional projects and responsibility to impact overall company SH&E initiatives.

What You Will Do:
Provide guidance & technical expertise to ensure compliance with SH&E regulations including governmental, state, industry, and Ecolab.
Develop & implement systems & processes for SH&E system to ensure training is timely & effective, incident investigations are timely & complete, audits are regularly scheduled & observations resolved.
Partners with the team to create a culture of trust, engagement, transparency, risk awareness and avoidance, and rigorous application of our SMS.
Champion the behavioral based observation program, SHE Pillar of TPM, and near miss/risk identification resolution.
Represent the plant in SH&E audit reviews conducted by third parties; communicate trends in audit findings, corrective actions, & observed best practices.
Develop SOPs for facility compliance with the major regulatory programs & safety contingency plans including MPRI, RCRA, EPA, SWPPP, Clean Water Act, OSHA & safety contingency plans.
Disseminates information regarding new regulations.
Develop, track, & communicate SH&E indicators.
Develop & implement systems & processes to reduce hazardous waste generation, increase recycling & conservation practices to meet our sustainability goals of water reduction and zero landfill.
Evaluate systems & implement projects to meet/maintain the increasingly stringent requirements of the waste water & air quality permits at the plant location; ensure all permitting is up to date.
Leads plant emergency response team, serves as a member of the Central Safety Committee & other multi-division SH&E efforts.
Liaise with the local government entities including DHS, TCEQ, City of Garland, Fire Department, Health department, Fish & Wildlife, Hazmat and Police Department.

Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 8 years relevant experience
Minimum of 2 years in an EHS role, within a manufacturing facility
Experience managing internal and/or external audits
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, engineering, or related discipline
Advanced degree in a safety, environmental, engineering or related discipline, preferred
Chemical, oil & gas, etc. experience highly favored
Experience developing & delivering training programs
Waste management experience
TPM or SHE Pillar experience
Proven experience as a team member or leader in obtaining superior safety results
Strong working knowledge of EPA, PSM, OSHA, NFPA, or related regulations
