The Environment, Health and Safety Manager is responsible for preventing and reducing employee injury or job related illness on Black Box or client sites . As EHS Manager, you will ensure that the different workspaces meet the Swedish health and safety regulations, OSHA regulations, and Black Box/client requirements and apply corrective measures as and when necessary to ensure that the work environments are safe.
Location: Onsite in Lulea, Sweden
You will be required to create and implement programs in support of local regulations and legislations, Black Box company policies, site safety rules, inspect working environments, identify hazards, provide and implement safety recommendations, investigate incidents/accidents, and implement post-injury follow up procedures and lessons learned meetings.
You will be working in a project construction environment within a live data center campus and will be required to work across the different locations managing the various workspaces. This role is very engaging and will require you to posses excellent communication and relationship skills.
Responsibilities:
Inspecting and evaluating the work environment and processes to ensure compliance with OSHA, local EHS regulations and Black Box standards. Develop Risk assessments for the operatives tasks to ensure compliance with OSHA, local EHS regulations and Black Box standards Recommending changes to protect and educate workers on how to prevent work related health problems through the use of robust safety training programs. Reviewing and investigating accidents, creating Root Cause Analysis reports to identify causes, find and implement ways to prevent them in the future. Conducting project inspections, determining unsafe conditions and practices, conduct weekly safety meetings at sites, carry out daily workplace assessments. Building a working relationship with General Contractors to ensure all safety measures are implemented and working as intended. Maintaining day-to-day oversight of safety programs and compliance. Ensuring local standards and regulations, Client rules and Black Box policies and standards are observed. Review the legal aspects register, new standards, rules, and regulations to determine relevancy to the company's operations. Documenting and Communicating all RCAs, proactive prevention measures, Improvement action plans, Risk Logs, training logs, KPIs, and reporting for both internal and client sharing requirements Develop and implement workplace safety programs including Employee Safety Committees and Emergency Procedures Develop environmental, health and safety programs that result in cost savings and reduction in the company’s environmental footprint and potential environmental legal liabilities Work with the Head of EHS, Quality, Complinace & Customer for Europe to ensure standardization of work practices, process and policy, support in EMA wide initiatives.
Knowledge, Abilities, Qualifications:
Your main goal is to ensure a safe working environment for employees, other contractors, and the customer. Strategic thinker with the ability to apply and lead, must be willing to “roll up sleeves” Creative thinker with strong analytical skills and have proven ability to manage people, processes, and technology. NEBOSH qualified, with at least five (5) years of experience that provides a comprehensive understanding of occupational Health & Safety principles and practices. In addition the successful candidate must possess at least one of the following Certifications: 1. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) 2. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) 3. Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST) 4. Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) 5. Graduate or Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) 6. Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction (STS-C) 7. Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS discipline or EHS related field Training: Empathetic self-motivator with solid interpersonal skills and ability to provide leadership, guidance, coaching and development for all team members. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Proven track record of working in an EH&S Management position, preferably in a construction environment Solid understanding of Local EHS regulations and legislation, Worker's Compensation regulations, GDPR, OSHA Ability to provide clear Guidance, advice and education at all levels Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and proactively whilst being an active resource for the client based assigned teams Strong influencer and communicator with excellent relationship and networking skills Strong ability to work in a fast and sometimes complex changing environment Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive through change Demonstrated successful experience in working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team oriented culture Posses excellent record keeping and documentation skills Fluent in English and Swedish written & oral
