EHS Specialist NC Job Type Full-time Description Job Title:EHS Specialist Department:Quality/EHS Reports to:Director of QEHS/Compliance Classification:Exempt Preferred Locations: Arden, NC or Menomonee Falls, WI Travel:Yes Job Summary: The Environment, Health & Safety Specialist will help to implement and maintain GWS and Sandvik company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. Involved in developing work areas and procedures and making EHS recommendations accordingly. Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating EHS policy and procedure manuals and documentation. Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Support the implementation and long-term maintenance of ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications. Duties/Responsibilities: + Maintain and enforce all EHS policies, including those you create, already existing procedures, and policies enforced by the state and federal governments + Work to help integrate and remain compliant with the Sandvik EHS policies. + Evaluate, identify, and maintain EHS training requirements across all GWS sites. + Oversee operations daily to ensure all employees follow safety procedures precisely. + Create documents that outline all EHS policies and procedures to be easily understood by manufacturing workers and the management team + Complete administrative duties, filling out EHS reports, collaborating with management, and compiling information about incidents/accidents whenever they occur to prevent similar incidents in the future + Train and oversee employees on EHS regulations + Monitor personnel and workspace EHS practices + Evaluate the probable physical and chemical hazards and take essential steps to minimize them + Measure and audit the effectiveness of hazard control programs + Maintain and manage equipment and processes related to each project of EHS + Recommend solutions to issues that need improvement + Reporting environmental injury, and illness data online to comply with EPA and OSHA requirements + Coordinate with HR to submit workers’ compensation claims + Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Health, and Safety or a relevant field or relevant Experience + 2-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment + Experience working in an ISO 14001 & 45001 EHS management system + OSHA certification or MESH Certification a plus Required Skills/Abilities: + Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. + Possess immense knowledge of EHS engineering processes and practices + Ability to perform audits, write, and submit reports + Verbal and written communication skills. + English required; bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus + Ability to work well under pressure + Problem-solving skills + Excellent communication skills + Ability to travel into Canada Physical requirements: + Ability to sit for long hours + Ability to Walk for a period of time + Ability to Stand for a period of time + Ability to move, position, and lift Work Location: + Prefer Arden, North Carolina, or Menomonee Falls, WI + Travel is required up to 30% within the US and Canada All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, age, genetic information, or any other factors prohibited by law.
