Basic Functions:
Support of Safety and Health programs and functions to ensure a work environment that is free of accidents and illness. Evaluates Industrial Hygiene and Safety Programs for monitoring and controlling occupational health and safety standards. Additionally, provides training for safety and health training as required. All team members have the right and responsibility to shut down production in the event of a Safety or Quality issue.
Specific Duties:
Coordinates the plant’s risk management program designed to minimize physical and financial exposure resulting from potential, alleged or actual on-the-job injuriesRecommends and supports actions and programs necessary to keep the plant in compliance with federal and state (OSHA) environmental (EPA) hazardous waste, local health and safety lawsAttends or leads the plant hourly Safety Team, Central Safety Committee, and Case Management TeamCoordinates the development and the implementation of appropriate safety policies and practices to ensure compliance with Corporate guidelinesCoordinates and in some cases conducts educational and training programs relative to safety to empower employees to achieve long-term resultsCoordinates the implementation of inspection programs, e.g. - accident investigations and equipment inspectionsConducts Job Safety Analysis on each manufacturing jobCoordinates the development and recommends policies and practices related to industrial hygiene and worker compensationInteracts with vendors and Purchasing to evaluate personal protective equipment, chemicals for all hazards, establish ratings and hazardous waste management policies and practices, and coordinate with plant engineering and assess Material Safety Data SheetsCoordinates the administration of the Hazardous Communication ProgramPerform all additional duties as assignedUtilize methods of continuous improvementEducation Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Industrial Safety
Experience Preferred: Two to five years in Safety and Health
