Job Purpose

The EHS Specialist will lead the implementation and refinement of EHS initiatives, best practices and policies to ensure safe working conditions and sound environmental practices for all North America Operations.

Travel Requirements Up to 25%   Job Duties and Responsibilities Communicate, partner and discuss with Operations management performance objectives and compliance issues as needed. Drive continuous improvement of the EHS performance for the Operations. Drive continuous improvement of the EHS performance for the Operations. Preparation of monthly reports and data as required on a regular and ad-hoc basis. Direct Operation in achieving overall facility compliance and place focus on moving beyond compliance. Promote a positive safety culture throughout the business. EHS resources for warehousing, field and office operations providing support and coverage as required. Champion the organizations EHS Policies, Procedures and Best Practices. Assist in coordinating industrial hygiene exposure monitoring. Act as liaison between supervision and personnel for monitoring results, recommendations and control strategies / recommendations.  Interface with supervision, managers and hourly employees regarding all EHS matters. Provide all EHS regulatory training. Monitor all Injury and Illness incidents (recordability, restricted and/or lost workday classifications) and assist with the operations with Worker’s Compensation management efforts to effectively drive continuous improvement. Assist with facility incident investigations and return to work programs. Monitor Contractor Safety programs and compliance. Deploy communication resources; toolbox talks, prestart communications, and safety alerts and participate/chair in EHS committee’s. Assist supervision in the development of Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)..  Work with site operations and HSE Manager on development of annual improvement planning. Maintain facility SDS and EHS management databases. Support operations with OSHA, EPA, DOT and state regulatory agencies and inspectors as needed. Assist Operations with EHS recordkeeping and data management. Assist facility in EHS compliance and program audits and provide instruction and assistance to operational management on successful closure of recommendations and finding. Assist in maintaining the MTS HSE SharePoint site. Assist with Client requirements and portals. Assist and champion health and wellbeing initiatives. Required Skills Safety, Environmental Management qualifications or equivalent. Knowledge of USA regulations per EPS, OSHA, DOT and MSHA. Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Laws. 2-3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or mining sectors.  Knowledge of hazardous materials and emergency response organization. Able to develop and deliver EHS training to management and employees. Excellent leadership, program and project management and communication skills. Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. 
  Desired Skills Experience in the mining industry.
