A Brief Summary of This Position:
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for providing environmental, health and safety support and ensuring that all practices are in compliance with Valmont policies and local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations. This position is responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its permitting applications. The incumbent will support the development and coordination of training programs in accordance with site and organizational programs.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates planning, organization and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure that management takes actions needed to raise employee awareness regarding EHS matters.Advises management on government regulations relating to health and safety, and recommends necessary action to attain complianceLeads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in preparation of material evidence for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations, and participates in hearings as needed.Participates in administration of workers compensation program, including working with insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time and cut back on unjust claimsConducts regular safety inspection tours of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective action or preventative measures where indicatedResponsible for OSHA reports and record keeping and maintains safety files and recordsDevises, supervisors and coordinates mandatory and voluntary training programs which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousnessConducts all required environmental tasks as required by Valmont policy and state and federal agencies.Maintains all records for EHS functions for the sites.Other Important Details about the Role:

Preferred Bachelors with 5+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9 + years relevant experienceOSHA 10 CertificationWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookAbility to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers and general publicStrong communication skillsSelf-starter and a team player able to interact with all levels of employeesAbility to keep a positive, professional attitude in a fast paced, hectic environmentMust have a high awareness of safety at all timesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
Minimum two years’ experience in a manufacturing or related environment preferredAbility and authorization to train employees in CPR/AED/First AidOSHA 30 CertificationWorking Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is performed in a factory setting, with most of the time being spent moving around different areas of manufacturing and shipping areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, fire, smoke, unstable debris and confined spaces. Environment is fast-paced and demanding most of the time. This position will require long days to support the Environmental Health and Safety initiative for a multi-site, three shift, seven day a week operation.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrist rests. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds in working with large files, binders, computer equipment and shop equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
