Roles & Responsibilities
The purpose of this job is to support the EHS Manager in maintaining and improving the EHS System and ensuring internal and external compliance in Environmental and Health & Safety matters.
As a member of the EHS Department, the following tasks will be performed as an EHS Specialist for 2 locations in Belgium:
Supports the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager in the EHS roles and responsibilities
Collaborates with all departments involved to mitigate EHS risks and threats
Actively promotes the EHS culture and supports in the compliancy with corporate EHS Standards and local legislation through the following aspects:
EHS Metrics: Follow-up, reporting and escalation of relevant metrics such as near misses, accidents, energy, water and waste
Environmental Management System (EMS): Being a steward towards the ISO 14001 System and support in compliancy with (corporate) EMS requirements
EDC Waste Stream Plan: Act as a first point of contact to ensure timely pick-up and registration of waste streams.
Support the EHS Manager in maintaining relevant procedures, ensuring conformity with the different waste streams and local instructions Health and Safety:
Participate in the identification and analysis of hazards, causes of accidents at work, and occupational diseases
Support on the execution of day to day EHS tasks, including risks assessments, implementation of the contractor safety program, in-service setting of new equipment, maintaining the chemical substances inventory
Perform EHS tours and workplace inspections
Supports the implementation of the EDC Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) Program
Maintain EHS equipment, including material for emergency response and first aid
Supports in the implementation of the Occupational Health Program
Provides periodic training on the different EHS aspects to all departments involved
Education & Competencies
Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experienceIn possession of a prevention advisor level II or III degree (or willing to get certified)Strong communication & documentation skillsFluent in English and ideally Dutch, written and spoken; other languages are an assetExperience with ISO 14001 or other Management systemsAble to collaborate with different departments, different culturesAnalytical skillsProject management skillsFamiliar with ergonomicsStrong team player and customer focusStrong communications skills, oral and written, including presentation skillsTeam player
