The EHS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and implementing empirical’s environmental, health, and safety (ESH) programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, assist with safety training, investigate incidents, monitor workplace conditions, and promote a culture of safety across all levels of the organization by actively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
Responsibilities Compliance Management:Monitor and enforce all applicable regulations/compliance at the federal, state, and local levels.Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.Develop and maintain EHS documentation, including safety procedures and records.Incident Investigation and prevention:Promptly investigate all workplace injuries, near misses, damage to property, safety concerns to determine root causes, and partner with necessary parties to implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences. Workplace Inspections and Monitoring:Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.Monitor safety equipment and ensure proper maintenance and functionality. Environmental Management:Oversee environmental programs including waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and chemical handling to minimize environmental impact. Monitor environmental impact and implement strategies to minimize pollution.Employee Engagement and Communication:Foster a positive safety culture by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives.Communicate safety policies and procedures clearly to all employees. Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns.Safety Training and Education:Collaborate with the Training Department, to develop and update safety and environmental training materials.Conduct Authorized Training sessions as needed for specialized training such as Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, and Powered Industrial Vehicles.Contractor Management:Manage on-site contractors’ safety-performance and compliance.Conduct periodic documented audits of on-site contractor work.Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Perform all other duties as assigned. Risk assessmentCertified Professional (CSP) or other relevant EHS Certifications preferredConflict resolution and problem-solving skillsProficiency in computer and Microsoft applicationsBilingual- English/Spanish preferredDemonstrated Competencies
Strong understanding of EHS regulations and compliance requirementsUnderstanding of industrial Environmental Programs- SWPPP, SPCC plan, Hazardous Waste Regulations, NPDES permits Leadership abilities to promote a safety-first culture within the organizationAnalytical skills to investigate incidents and identify root causesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and interact with employees at all levelsMust have regular and punctual attendancePhysical Requirements
This position requires walking, standing, twisting, reaching, bending, climbing, and lifting.Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 60lbs.Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing or industrial management safety role.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, preferred.
