**This Opportunity**
WSP USA is looking for an **EHS Technician** that will be a part of an environmental compliance team providing contract service to **NASA Langley Research Center** in **Hampton, VA** . The selected candidate will be a work on a full-time basis (40-hr/week) performing a variety of waste management and warehousing duties for hazardous and non-hazardous waste in a <90-day facility.
**Your Impact**
Duties are performed in accordance with the facility’s storage and management plan and may involve one or more of the following
+ Technical work involving hazardous waste management programs or projects; or movement,
+ Provide excellent customer service to facility personnel and work collaboratively with other team members.
+ Verify materials upon receipt, labeling, containerization, storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods,
+ Take inventory and inspecting stored materials, noting and reporting discrepancies, and preparing warehoused materials for shipment.
+ Ensure that all waste materials are picked up from NASA facilities within 72 hours of notification. Contact facility personnel to assist with coordination and pickup.
+ Pick up materials and transport to the appropriate onsite waste accumulation area. Work involves a physical component including drum handling and heavy lifting.
+ Perform waste sampling and consolidation.
+ Package waste material according to all DOT, EPA, OSHA and NASA requirements for transport.
+ Operate and maintain equipment, such as pumps; operate a forklift, hand truck and any other equipment as needed; perform inspections of facility, stored containers and vehicle.
+ Fill out paperwork, labels, chains of custody in a complete, accurate and neat manner. Maintain inventory of stored materials.
+ Perform limited emergency response procedures, apply knowledge of hazardous waste products and safety regulations.
+ Comply with company, State, and/or Federal rules as they apply to security, transportation, safety, medical, time-keeping and personnel procedures.
**Who You Are**
+ In order to satisfy initial training requirements, the employee shall complete RCRA training, site specific training with the Integrated Spill Contingency Plan, DOT Training and obtain 24-hour HAZWOPER certification within three months after the date of appointment to this position. Online training will be provided by WSP.
+ On an annual basis, the employee shall complete appropriate medical monitoring, receive RCRA training, site specific training with the Integrated Spill Contingency Plan, and obtain an 8-hour refresher in HAZWOPER training. The employee shall also receive DOT training every three years of appointment to this position.
+ Such duties require the ability to implement environmental regulations, perform limited emergency response procedures, knowledge of hazardous waste products and safety regulations, and the skill to ensure proper management, temporary storage and/or handling of hazardous wastes.
+ Maintain and possess at all times, all licenses and permits to operate vehicles, forklifts and other equipment required.
+ Operate computers using Microsoft Word, Excel and other software.
