Summary:

The EKG tech performs EKGs on inpatients and outpatients; places EKG tracings on patient charts and performs general clerical functions. Applies Holter and event monitors and processes paperwork. Assists with stress testing and covers secretarial duties in secretary's absence.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

High school diploma or its equivalent preferredOn-the-job training must be completed within 6 weeks and the tech should be independently proficient within 6 months

License or Certification Requirements:

BLS

 

 

Responsibilities:

Able to perform secretarial duties in secretary's absence, i.e., billing information to offices and report distribution.Answers the telephone, monitors patient appointments, and performs other general clerical work.Assists physician in stress testing.Assists with neuro and EMG.Edits and confirms EKG and treadmill physician reports.Performs EKGs and processes tracings.Performs set-up, application, and processing of Holter monitors and event recorders.Responds to trauma and Code 33's.Reviews physician boxes for appropriate EKG tracing placement.Supervises the maintenance of all EKG equipment.
